2010/2011 Tuition Assistance Fact Sheet
The Tuition Assistance Program of the Lutheran High School Association includes both merit based and needs based assstance. The need based financial assistance is designed to help any young person who wishes to attend one of the high schools but cannot afford the entire tuition rate because of family need. Need-based financial assistance is awarded on a first come/first served basis due to the limited amount of financial aid dollars.
Tuition Assistance Available
- Academic Scholarships - Eight $1,000 awards on basis of EXPLORE test awarded to freshmen, renewable on maintenance of 3.0 GPA.
- Leadership Grants - A small number are available and are awarded on the basis of leadership, scholarship and service. Call Mr. Hipenbecker for application.
- Financial Assistance - Awarded on basis of FACTS financial assistance as described above. Maximum grant of 50% of tuition. Average grant for 09-10 was approximately $2,100. Range $600-$3,000.
Application for Financial Assistance
You may apply for financial aid either online or by using the paper forms available at the time of registration or anytime in the school office. A student must be officially registered before applying for financial assistance. Lutheran High School Association of St. Louis has selected FACTS as the independent third party to analyze your application and determine financial assistance need. Directions for filling out the application and the mailing address are included in the packet given to you by the school office. A processing fee must be included with the application when it is mailed to FACTS.

Deadline for Application for Financial Assistance
The preferred deadline is March 1, 2010. Applications received after this date will be processed as money is available. We encourage early applications. Financial aid award letters will be mailed by April 1, 2010 from the school office to the family requesting financial aid if the application is received by FACTS by March 1, 2010. If you are applying for financial aid after March 1, 2010, please allow at least 30 days after the date of mailing for the school to respond.
Appeals of financial assistance: Any concerns regarding the amount of financial aid assistance awarded should be addressed to Mr. Tim Hipenbecker, Principal, at 314-389-3100, ext 401.
Specific Cases
- $9,225 tuition with $2,100 grant would make 12 monthly payments of $593.75.
- $10,425 tuition with $2,100 grant would make 12 monthly payments of $693.75.
- $9,225 tuition with $1,000 academic scholarship and $2,100 grant would make 12 monthly payments of $510.42.
- $10,425 tuition with $1,000 academic scholarship and $2,100 grant would make 12 monthly payments of $610.42.
