CRUSADER CURRICULUM

Student helping another student studyPassionate About Learning and Eager to be Challenged

At Lutheran North, students and teachers are passionate about learning and eager to be challenged. Hard work on the part of students and teachers is expected, and even more, enjoyed. Excellence in academics, music, drama, and athletics is sought after and achieved. Equally important, Lutheran North is a place where people make lasting friendships, worship together every day, and experience the love of Jesus Christ.

Students are partners in the educational process at Lutheran North. We ask students to think for themselves and express original ideas. The diverse nature of the student body at LHSN gives students the special opportunity to listen to and value differing points of view. In each area of school life, we recognize the important contributions of individual students and the rich diversity that they bring to Lutheran North.

We are proud to offer a variety of opportunity in academics, athletics, and extracurricular activities, and we are equally proud of a caring faculty and support staff that help students to be successful. One characteristic of a successful student is his/her ability to plan in order to achieve desired goals. Likewise, it has been our experience that successful students know how to plan their schedules to achieve desired results.

As you build your schedule, keep the following in mind:

  1. What do I plan to do after high school?
  2. What schools offer training or programs in my area of interest?
  3. What are the general entrance requirements for these programs or schools?

In recent years, 95%+ of our graduates have pursued a college career. Students are asked to study the material provided on typical college admissions patterns. It is further recommended that you check with the college of your choice for specific requirements. The LHSN curriculum is designed to prepare students for college work, but is also adaptable to accommodate students who wish to continue their studies at a technical school as early as their junior year in high school.

Group of students studyingThose teachers who are skilled in the use of cooperative group work will tell you that several minds working together are smarter than one mind alone. Therefore, get advice as you select your courses. Talk to your current faculty about what they would recommend, consult family and friends.

You are fortunate to attend a school that offers many choices of courses. With that opportunity goes the obligation to choose wisely. Don't be afraid to challenge yourself and especially to develop new skills and areas of knowledge. The mission statement for Lutheran North says: "We exist to nurture young Christians for further education and Christian service." Your search for courses of study is also a search for the way in which you will use your education in the service of others. There are many pathways to Christian service and all are worthwhile to explore.
